Its never too early for the Philadelphia 76ers to make some changes, especially after the start theyve had.
They will have plenty of options for who to turn to, but Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer reported that theyll be on the lookout for a power forward.
At 2-12, theres plenty that the Sixers have to fix, but what they could use at the moment is a winning player.
Someone who wills his team to victory and goes the extra mile.
One player who fits this descriptionthough hes not a power forwardis former Sixers playoff rival Marcus Smart.
Smart is certainly not the perfect candidate for the Sixers.
He has never been a knockdown shooter, which is made worse by his questionable shot selection.
But on paper, he fills so many holes for them.
Hes a multi-positional All-NBA defender when hes at full strength.
Hes also one of the few hybrid All-NBA defenders and playmakers.
The Sixers have seen Smart's impact on the court themselves.
Having faced Smart in the playoffs three times, the former Defensive Player of the Year played a substantial role in the Boston Celtics beating the Sixers each time.
There havent been any reports that Smart is available to acquire just yet, but its not too outlandish to suggest that he might be soon.
Marcus Smart might be available Smart has not had a great start to the season with his current team, the Memphis Grizzlies.
After an injury-plagued season last year, during which he played 20 games, Smart has been hit with the injury bug again and has started games coming off the bench.
In light of his reduced role, MassLives Brian Robb explained why he believes Memphis may cut ties with Smart this season.
If the Grizzlies decide to invest more in their younger guys, Smart could become one of the more impactful players on the trade market ahead of the deadline in February.
Its still too early to know what path the Grizzlies will take on that front, but the Grizzlies payroll will probably need to be trimmed heading into next year, Robb wrote.
If that comes to fruition, the Sixers have expiring contracts and draft assets to dangle.
Smart has his problems, but hes a winner, and winning has come in short supply for the Sixers these days.
