Sanchez: The Yankees had their turn to meet Juan Soto on Monday, and though Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner knows the stakes of bringing back the superstar theres uncertainty over where they stand in the race for his next contract.
Steinbrenner said that the meeting went for a few hours and that Soto was particularly interested in the teams player development system, indicating that in addition to the mere value of his upcoming contract hes looking for a team that will be able to sustain a pipeline of talent for the duration of his stay there.
Beyond that, Steinbrenner doesnt know much about where Sotos head is at, and didnt make any promises beyond that they would be in the mix.
The Athletic | Andrew Marchand: The Michael Kay Show has been one of the mainstays in New York sports radio, but its coming to a major crossroad.
Kay, also the play-by-play announcer for the YES Networks broadcast of Yankees games, is coming to the end of his ESPN contract next month, and the two sides are in talks over what the future of his show will look like if they choose to continue.
Theres a few options, including Kay moving up earlier in the afternoon as a solo host.
Kay did dangle the possibility of leaving afternoon radio behind two years ago during his last negotiations, however, so it remains to be seen what the radio landscape will look like.
MLB Trade Rumors | Darragh McDonald: The Tigers have picked up Jahmai Jones on a minor league deal with an invite to their major league spring training camp.
Jones spent a majority of last season with the Yankees, where he mostly rode the bench before being outrighted in August.
He did perform well in Triple-A after clearing waivers, but has yet to translate any of his Triple-A success to the big leagues over parts of four years..
