STORRS, Conn.
Gampel Pavilion will welcome home womens basketball royalty on Wednesday night as UConn celebrates 40 seasons led by coach Geno Auriemma and associate head coach Chris Dailey.
A star-studded roster of more than five dozen alumni are confirmed to attend the Huskies game against Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, and Auriemma will become the winningest coach in college basketball history if UConn beats the Knights for his 1,217th career victory.
The sold-out crowd will include 22 current and former WNBA players, 33 NCAA champions, 12 All-Americans and 10 Olympians.
Alumni from all generations of Auriemmas tenure will be represented at the game: Three players attending began their UConn careers in 1982 before the legendary coach was hired, and nine were members of his first national championship team in 1995.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, 2024 graduate Aaliyah Edwards will be back at Gampel Pavilion fresh off of her rookie WNBA season with the Washington Mystics.
