Herrmann, Leipheimer among six inducted intoThiel College Athletic Hall of Fame

GREENVILLE, Pa.
Marsha Adams '89, Eric Boylan '09, Chris Dunham '09, Joe Herrmann '08, Jack Leipheimer '74 and Tim Taylor '13 were enshrined in the Thiel College Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday night during Hall of Fame Weekend.
Marsha Adams was a five-time All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) First Team selection in softball and volleyball.
A four-time All-PAC First Team selection as a shortstop and outfielder, Adams finished her senior season with a .346 batting average, 16 runs, 14 walks, 13 RBIs, 14 stolen bases, 7 strikeouts, and 1 double.
Adams, who was a First Team All-PAC selection in 1988 in volleyball was also a part of the women's basketball team who won a PAC title in 1984-85.
Eric Boylan was a three-time All-PAC selection in baseball and named to the 2008 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Mideast Region First Team, along with Third Team All-American (2008) after being selected as a First Team All-Region pick.
Boylan was also named to the 2009 ABCA All-Mideast Regional Baseball Second Team.
A two-time All-PAC First Team selection in 2008 and 2009 and a Second Team selection in 2007, Boylan holds the program record for hits (221), doubles (53), and total bases (360).
Boylan is tied for the second most RBIs in program history (148) while being tied for third in home runs (26).
His 598 career at-bats ranks third in program history to go along with 140 runs (third), and a career batting average of .370, which stands at sixth in program history.
Boylan currently holds the longest consecutive games hit-safely streak in program history (26), most at-bats in a single season (194), most hits in a single season (81), most doubles in a single season (25), most total bases in a single season (139), tied for most RBIs in a single season (63), and scored the second-most runs in a single season (55).
Chris Dunham was an all PAC First Teamer in 2008 and is the only Thiel baseball player to be named to the ABCA First Team All-American Team (2008).
Dunham was an All-Region First Team selection by ABCA and while also being a First Team All-American in 2008 and a Preseason All-American in 2009.
Dunham holds the single-season program record for home runs with 15 in 2008 while also totaling 63 RBIs, which ties for most in a single season; 124 total bases, which is second most in a single season; and 51 runs scored, which is fifth most in a single season.
Dunham also ranks third in program history in walks drawn (64).
(Jamestown High) was a three-time All-PAC selection who was also selected as a member of the PAC 60th Anniversary Team.
A two-time first-team selection, a second-team selection, and Freshman of the Year, Herrmann ranks third in program history for points (1520), eighth in free throws (273), sixth in rebounds (695), third in blocks (112), and fourth in steals (148).
Herrmann is ranked third for most points in a single game with 44 against Westminster on February 9, 2005.
Herrmann also ranks tied for fifth (466) and 16th (413) for most points in a single season to go along with third in free throws in a single season (117) and ninth in blocks (41).
(Hickory High) was the 28th head football coach at Thiel while also serving as the Director of Athletics from 2008-15.
Leipheimer dedicated more than 30 years of his life to coaching.
Thiel went 36-46 during his eight-year tenure as head coach, culminating with the team's magical 2005 season.
The 2005 team was inducted into Thiel's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021 and was the first team in program history to earn a NCAA Division III playoff berth, the first to host an NCAA Division III playoff game, and the first to win an NCAA Division III playoff game (vs.
John Hopkins, 28-3).
Leipheimer was named the PAC Coach of the Year, the AFCA Division III Region II Coach of the Year and the Football Gazette's South Region Coach of the Year in 2005.
During the 2005 season, the Tomcats set 24 school records and ranked in the top 30 in the country in multiple statistical categories, including: Kickoff return, (seventh, 23.9 ypg), total defense (eighth, 253 ypg), rushing defense (80.3 ypg), turnover margin (24th, +11), and scoring defense (28th, 16.5 ppg).
The Tomcats were ranked No.
15 by Don Hansen's Football Gazette's Top 40, No.
16 by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Coaches' Poll and No.
17 by Top 25 at the end of the season.
Twenty Tomcats earned All-PAC recognition in 2005, and two players went on to be inducted into the Thiel College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019 offensive tackle Dave Hendricks and running back Steve Minton.
As the Director of Athletics and a member of the president's cabinet from 2008-15, Leipheimer oversaw the addition of five athletics teams to go along with the Rissell-Schreyer Dome, a seasonal air-supported structure which covers Stoeber Field during the winter months.
Other projects completed during his tenure as AD included competition-level lighting at Alumni stadium, and gymnasium, locker room and athletic training room enhancements.
Leipheimer was also a student-athlete at Thiel and a four-year letter winner in football and a part of the 1972 PAC Championship team.
Leipheimer will also be inducted into the Mercer County Hall of Fame on Jan.
18, 2025 at the Avalon at Buhl Club.
Tim Taylor was a four-year defensive end and a three-time All PAC pick.
Taylor also served as a team captain in both the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
Taylor was a First Team All-PAC honoree in 2011 and 2012, and an Honorable Mention pick in 2010.
Taylor received multiple PAC Player of the Week honors.
In 2011, Taylor was named to the Academic All-District IV First Team, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
In 2012, Taylor was named to the Associated Press (AP) Little All-America Third Team and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American Third Team.
He was also a member of the Capital One Academic All-District IV First Team, as selected by CoSIDA, and was named First Team Preseason All-America by USA Football News.
Taylor played in the D3 Senior Classic, helping the South team earn a 37-21 win with two sacks.
Taylor holds the program records for tackles-for-loss and sacks, 66.5 and 34.5, respectively.
Taylor also ranks first (22.5, 2011), second (22.0, 2012), and fourth (17.5, 2010) in single season tackles-for-loss to go along with ranking first (13.5, 2012) and being tied for third (11.0, 2011) for total sacks in a season.
Taylor also has the single game record for tackles-for-loss with 7.0 on Oct.

Thiel College Athletic Facility housekeeper Judy Ellis was the recipient of the Meritorious Service and Commitment Award.
The award is presented to recognize managers, trainers and other deserving individuals associated with Thiel College Athletics.
Ellis is in her 16th year as the Athletic Department's housekeeper.
She is responsible for the Paul Bush Memorial Fitness Center, Maenpa Court at Beeghly Gymnasium, and Stoeber Field at Alumni Stadium.
Ellis and her husband, Don, have two children, Ashley and Taylor.
She also has two grandchildren, Lily and Kinsley..
