The high school boys’ and girls’ district soccer tournament started last week, and the district semi-finals and finals will be held this week as well.
The men’s teams of North Marion, Lake Weir and Bellevue all spent several weeks as top three seeds. Surprisingly, Lake Weir and North Marion matched in the second round.
Despite being undefeated, the Forest Boys have no home field advantage in the championship round, with three men’s teams eliminated in the first round.
Let’s take a closer look at how the early rounds of these district tournaments fared for each team.
Forest Heads To Championship Game
The Wildcat boys are fit for the district tournament championship game against Gainesville on Wednesday. They beat Southlake 2-0 in extra time, which he won in his first round match on Thursday. In Round 2, Forest defeated Buchholz to complete their season sweep with a 1–0 shutout.
Ranked 5th in the state, Gainesville is the highest-ranked team Forest has faced this season. More pressure will be put on the upcoming championship game – both teams are undefeated.
Westport season ends
The Wolf Pack season ended prematurely. Apopka defeated West Port 4-1 in the first round of the district tournament. Westport’s season he finishes 11-6-2.
Fall of Vanguard in District
The Knights lost 5–4 to Leesburg in a shootout. Vanguard ends the season with his 4-10-3.
North Marion meets Lake Weir on Monday
The Colts have a bye week and will face Lake Weir in Round 2 at home on Monday.

Dunnellon loses to Crystal River and ends winless
The Pirates defeated the Tigers 8-0, giving Dunnellon a final record of 0-15.
Bellevue ready to face Leesburg
Bellevue has just moved away from goodbye week and has three more days to scout Leesburg. They will begin their semifinal matchup on Tuesday night.
