World Cup final tickets surge in price to become ‘most expensive ever’ with staggering $8,000 get-in

WORLD CUP final tickets have surged in price once again leaving it on track to become the most expensive sporting event EVER.

Argentina are preparing to take on Spain in the final of the iconic tournament at New Jerseys MetLife Stadium.

Fifas pricing for the 2026 World Cup has been subject to widespread criticizm ever since they went on sale.

That, combined with the prices of travel, parking and other extra costs, have left fans infuriated with Fifas decision to host it in the USA.

And now the prices for tickets to the World Cup final are just the cherry on top on what has been a controversial tournament.

The cheapest ticket currently available on Fifas official resale website on the eve of the final is around $8000.

For context, the 2024 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers sold at an average of $10,540 per ticket on resale sites.

And per The Athletic, secondary site SeatGeek told them that the average price of World Cup final tickets being purchased via them was $12,751.

The 2024 Super Bowl retained top spot in historical rankings despite the phenomenal New York-driven hype around the 2026 NBA Finals in May and June.

Game 3 between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs reached a $9,033 average resale price on SeatGeek.

A StubHub spokesperson told the Athletic that demand for the World Cup final, for now, ranks slightly behind that 2024 Super Bowl and also behind Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

However, Game 6 never happened as the Knicks wrapped it up in five to win their first NBA title in 53 years.

When taking in comparative scale into this conversation, however, the World Cup final is in a league of its own.

MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, is the NFLs largest stadium with a capacity of 80,663 for World Cup matches.

It is significantly larger than Allegiant Stadiums 61,629 for the 2024 Super Bowl or Madison Square Gardens 19,812, meaning the scale of demand for the World Cup final is simply phenomenal.
