Wizards Get Encouraging Anthony Davis Update Before 2026-27 Season

The Washington Wizards appear to have a bright future on the horizon as they look to bounce back from their league-worst season in 2025-26.

All-Star point guard Trae Young opted out of his player option on Monday, but is widely expected to sign with the Wizards on a lucrative longterm deal.

And Washington's other recent trade acquisition, Anthony Davis, seems to be encouraged by the direction of the Washington franchise.

Wizards executive Michael Winger discussed Davis' outlook during a recent sit-down interview with JP Finlay of NBC Sports.

"My conversations with AD are delightful.

He's a pro's pro.

He understands who he is in this league.

He understands the direction of the league.

He understands what we're trying to do organizationally," Winger said.

"He's communicated to me a strong interest in being a part of what we're building."
