Wisconsin football previews upcoming season at Big Ten Football Media Day

CHICAGO, Ill.

(WMTV) - The countdown to college football season is on, and Wisconsin is starting the summer with a clear message: the last two years werent good enough.

Entering his fourth season leading the Badgers, head coach Luke Fickell addressed back-to-back disappointing seasons head-on, saying the program hasnt met the expectations tied to Wisconsin football.

The last two years for us have not been up to the standard, and Im not shying away from that, Fickell said, pointing to the way Wisconsin plays as a big part of that standard, and adding the Badgers need to improve their physicality and toughness.

I can promise you that we will, Fickell said.

Players say that approach is already landing inside the locker room.

Wide receiver Chris Brooks Jr.

said last seasons finish gave the team something real to build on, especially after learning what it takes to get over the hump in tight games.

It gives us a lot to build off of, Brooks Jr.

said.

We just know that were right there.

Wisconsin opens the season against Notre Dame at Lambeau Field on Sept.

6, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
