As a sophomore at Ocean City, Duke McCarron pitched in one of the greatest New Jersey high school baseball state finals.
The 2021 Group 3 championship between Ocean City and Pascack Valley went 14 innings, and McCarron won the game after throwing 3 2/3 scoreless innings.

On Sunday, he was drafted in the 17th round by the Miami Marlins out Saint Josephs University in Philadelphia 505th overall.
McCarron, who also had collegiate stints with Maryland and State College of Florida, is the fourth N.J.
player drafted out of Saint Josephs this year.
This past season, McCarron struck out 67 batters in 70 innings, which spanned 15 starts.
He went 4-3, and SJU won six straight games when he started from March 6-April 10.
