The 2026 WNBA All-Star Game is this weekend, with legends Cynthia Cooper and Teresa Weatherspoon picking from the 22 named All-Stars to create the teams for the clash.
Indiana Fevers Clark is locked in as a starting guard for whichever GM selects her, but Atlanta Dreams Angel Reese will be among the reserves.
Why did Angel Reese not get named as a WNBA All-Star starter while Caitlin Clark did? The WNBA chooses the starters through a weighted vote, which gives 50% of the power to fans, with the other 50% being divided in half between current WNBA players and the media.
Reese was the first name off the starters list in the frontcourt, ranking sixth in all three voting categories and losing out to Aja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Jessica Shepard, Aliyah Boston, Gabby Williams, and Natasha Howard.

Paige Bueckers and Olivia Miles went ahead of her, while Kelsey Mitchell was the last one to make the cut.
Reese and Clark play in different areas of the court and dont compete with each other for a starting spot, but the rivalry will presumably be heightened, especially with Clark ranking 11th in the player vote.
Clark is averaging 21.0 points and 7.9 assists this season and was recently named the WNBA cover athlete for the NBA 2K27 video game.
Angel Reese slammed her and Dream teammates absence from the WNBAs All-Star starters Reese had reacted angrily to the revelation that she and Dream teammates, guards Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard, were the first names off the starters list in their respective positions, with Reese calling it a slap in the face.
For us not to have anyone was just a slap in the face.
Reese is averaging 15.4 points and 11.5 rebounds in her first season with the Dream.
The franchise is 16-10 this season and second in the East, only half a game behind Clarks Fever, who are 17-10 so far this season.
