Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Five Running Backs to Target, Including Kendre Miller and Tyrone Tracy

Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Five Running Backs to Target, Including Kendre Miller and Tyrone Tracy

With Week 6 in the rearview mirror, fantasy football enthusiasts are shifting their attention to Week 7 and the waiver wire. This week's running back pool isn't deep, but diligent managers can uncover some viable options. Here are the top five running back waiver wire targets for Week 7.

Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints

Miller emerged as the Saints' primary running back last week, logging 44% of the offensive snaps and carrying the ball 20 times. In comparison, Alvin Kamara had just seven carries and CJ Donaldson six. Although Kamara saw more targets (six) than Miller (two), Miller still made the most of his opportunities, accumulating 70 yards. Travis Etienne's eventual return could alter the backfield dynamic, but he remains on injured reserve for at least another week. Miller is expected to continue seeing significant volume in Week 7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a neutral matchup.

Dylan Sampson, Cleveland Browns

Sampson, whose 21-day practice window was opened, appeared close to returning in Week 6 and is on track to play in Week 7. If Judkins remains sidelined, Sampson would likely step in as the Browns' RB1. Should he be activated, fantasy managers should feel confident starting him against the Tennessee Titans. The game script projects favorably for Cleveland, as they are expected to lead in the second half and lean on the run.

Mike Washington Jr., Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak insisted that Ashton Jeanty was finally healthy this week after having no time to recover from foot and ankle injuries. However, Kubiak's credibility has been questioned since taking over, and this situation appears no different. Jeanty split carries with Washington, rushing 10 times for 22 yards (2.2 YPC), while Washington carried nine times for 43 yards (4.8 YPC). If the Raiders were wise, they would rest Jeanty as the Arizona Cardinals did with Jeremiyah Love last week. Whether they do so remains uncertain. Regardless, Jeanty is clearly limited, and Washington is the beneficiary. If Jeanty continues to play injured, Washington could have standalone value and even emerge as an RB2 if Jeanty misses time.

Tyrone Tracy Jr., New York Giants

The Giants' backfield is a mess, and starting any of their running backs in Week 7 is not advisable. However, if forced to choose, Tracy would be the pick after scoring two touchdowns in Week 6. None of the backs stood out, but Tracy received the goal-line work and three of the four running back targets in the passing game. Cam Skattebo could reclaim the lead role this week against the Texans, which is why all Giants running backs should be benched against Houston. Nevertheless, adding Tracy could also secure the Giants' top running back for the rest of the season. The Giants also released Najee Harris today, which at least clarifies the backfield situation heading into Week 7.

Jonah Coleman, Denver Broncos

Coleman is eligible to come off injured reserve this week, and the Broncos' backfield appears wide open. JK Dobbins has regressed significantly this season, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry after averaging 5.0 yards per carry last year and for his career. RJ Harvey is not an NFL starting running back and won't take over the job. There is a real chance Coleman gets an opportunity to showcase his abilities and never looks back.

Key Analysis

This week's waiver wire running backs offer varying levels of upside, but each comes with caveats. Miller has the clearest path to volume with Etienne still out, while Sampson's value hinges on Judkins' status. Washington's potential is tied to Jeanty's health, and Tracy's situation is muddled by a crowded backfield. Coleman is a speculative add with high upside if he seizes the Broncos' starting job. Fantasy managers should weigh these factors carefully when making waiver claims.
