With Week 5 in the books and Week 6 on the horizon, fantasy managers are busy setting their lineups. The tight end position entered the season with high expectations and has delivered solid production, though not always from the biggest names. The rankings have already seen significant movement, and with the season still young, more changes could be on the way.
Below are the Week 6 fantasy football tight end rankings, highlighting key risers and fallers.
Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals
McBride once again sits atop the rankings. He is trusted more than any other tight end, which is why he is ranked two spots ahead of the expert consensus rankings (ECR). While two spots may not seem like much, the tight ends he leapfrogs are Brock Bowers and George Kittle. All three are excellent options, but McBride remains the preferred choice among them.
Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills
Kincaid is ranked two spots below his ECR. While his upside is evident, his floor is alarmingly low. He is a rare boom-or-bust tight end who does not rely on touchdowns for production. There is a chance he delivers a big week, but the inconsistency makes him difficult to trust at a higher ranking. He sits just behind Dallas Goedert, whose value could be affected by the status of DeVonta Smith.
Darren Waller, Carolina Panthers
Waller has been outstanding this season and is expected to see an even larger role in the offense following the team's Week 5 bye. It's important to remember that he joined the Panthers just before the season began. During his impressive first four weeks, he was still getting into shape and learning the Carolina offense. He could be poised for a breakout over the remainder of the season.
Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams
Higbee is ranked 10 spots below his ECR, largely due to skepticism about the Rams' tight ends. The risk outweighs the potential reward, even though the upside exists. It's difficult to predict how involved the tight ends will be in the passing game, and even harder to determine which one will get targets. The Rams often have multiple tight ends on the field, but targets go to Puka Nacua and touchdowns go to Davante Adams. That makes Higbee a risky play, and the same applies to Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen, and Max Klare.
