Two more Wolverines announce plans to return to Michigan basketball

The expectation when Dusty May unceremoniously departed Michigan basketball for the NBA two weeks ago was that the Wolverines could lose a few players via the transfer portal.

However, interim head coach Mike Boynton Jr.

has been able to keep the band together.

Over the weekend, every projected starter for the maize and blue who hadn't revealed their intentions previously ultimately decided to stay with Michigan.

Now, a couple of role players have announced their plans to do the same.

Two second-year players -- forward Oscar Goodman and guard Ricky Liburd -- both revealed their intentions to remain with the Wolverines, with the former having been announced by The Michigan Insider's Brice Marich, and the latter by college basketball insider Jon Rothstein.

The emerging 6-foot-7 becomes one of the latest to publicly reaffirm his plans to play for interim HC Mike Boynton Jr.

Another huge for development for Mike Boynton.

Liburd redshirted last year and is considered a potential breakout candidate in Ann Arbor.

Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) July 6, 2026 With Goodman and Liburd in the fold, Michigan is only awaiting word from two players -- incoming freshman forward Quinn Costello and currently injured third-year guard LJ Cason.

The projected starting five of Elliot Cadeau, Trey McKenney, Brandon McCoy Jr., JP Estella, and Moustapha Thiam have all announced their intentions to remain with the program.
