Two Kelowna Falcons players to take part in West Coast League all-star game Falcons place 2 all-stars The Kelowna Falcons will send a pair of players to Victoria next week for the annual West Coast League all-star game and festivities.
Shortstop Jacob Loving and pitcher Seth Sumner will take part in the two-day event next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Loving is hitting .361 with three doubles, a triple and six runs batted in.
He has also played stellar defence at short all season long.
Sumner meantime leads the West Coast League in both wins and earned run average.
Coming into action this week, Sumner has a record of 5-1 with a tidy 1.04 ERA.
Over 34 23 innings, Sumner has allowed just four earned runs while striking out 29.
All-star festivities open with the home run derby on the evening of Tuesday, July 14, and will feature former Toronto Blue Jay Kevin Pillar.
The home run derby will feature teams of three attempting to hit as many home runs as possible during an allotted time.
However, while batters are trying to hit home runs, the three members of the opposing team will be patrolling the outfield and can take points away by catching balls within a specified "catch zone.
The all-star game itself takes place on July 15 with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
