The Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball program experienced another significant roster shakeup this offseason, with four players opting to enter the NCAA transfer portal. That group featured a key starter from last season and another frontcourt player who had started games, along with two bench guards. All four are expected to make an impact at their new destinations this upcoming season.
This marks the fifth straight year that at least four Alabama players have entered the portal at the conclusion of a season. As a result, more than 10 former Crimson Tide transfers will be competing across Division I college basketball this year, with several set to face Alabama in SEC matchups.
Below is a breakdown of where former Alabama transfers will play this season, organized by conference.
ACC
Jarin Stevenson returns to North Carolina for his second season with the Tar Heels after starting 25 games and averaging 8.1 points per game in a career-best year. Jalil Bethea also moved to Pittsburgh this offseason and is expected to be one of the Panthers' top guards.
Big Ten
Aiden Sherrell and Taylor Bol Bowen both transferred from Alabama and will compete in the Big Ten at Indiana and Oregon, respectively. Both are projected to play significant roles, potentially as starters, with Sherrell likely to rank among the conference's top frontcourt players.
Mid-Majors
Two former Alabama players are returning to their home state at mid-major programs: Naas Cunningham at Jacksonville State and Sam Walters at Troy. Additionally, Kris Parker will play at Kennesaw State under former Alabama assistant Antoine Pettway.
SEC
Derrion Reid is back at Oklahoma for a second season after averaging 11.7 points per game and starting 37 games last year. Mouhamed Dioubate is transferring within the SEC for the second time, joining LSU after spending a year at Kentucky. Among the guards, Davion Hannah is poised for a breakout season at South Carolina, while Rylan Griffin is seeking a fifth year of eligibility at Texas A&M.
