This Eagles breakout star might not be back. But he’s an important piece in 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles are less than a month away from the start of training camp.

Well be counting down the 25 most important Eagles for the 2026 season.

21.

Moro Ojomo Moro Ojomo emerged this time last year as a breakout candidate on the Eagles defensive line.

Now, hes one of the most important players in the building with an uncertain future.

Going into last season, there was a legitimate question mark at defensive tackle.

The Eagles still had Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.

But they had to replace Milton Williams, an integral part of the Super Bowl LIX triumph who left in free agency for a $100 million deal from the Patriots.

Fortunately, Ojomo was ready to follow Williams footsteps.

Ojomo, the 2023 seventh-rounder out of Texas, quickly established himself as a force on the Eagles interior defensive line.

Ojomo, who entered last season without a single regular-season sack, finished second on the team in 2025 with six sacks.

He played in all 17 games, started nine times and logged 12 quarterback hits, six tackles for loss and 38 total tackles.

Ojomo, the No.

249 overall pick in 2023, logged more defensive snaps (740) last year than he did in 2023 and 2024 combined (456).

With Carter dealing with shoulder issues and Davis doing his best work against the run, Ojomo was the perfect complement (and gave offenses headaches) on passing downs.

He showed off his explosiveness and smarts.

Behind the scenes, teammates call him Coach Mo.

Im so impressed with this guy, with his work ethic, his commitment to excellence, defensive line coach Clint Hurtt said this spring.

It sounds like coach talk, but its not with this guy.

Everything he does is with a purpose.

..

Hes almost a pest with the little nuances of the game.

Just has to continue to find little ways to get better, and I expect a great year out of him.

If Ojomo has another great year, that could lead him down a similar path to Williams: landing a lucrative contract outside of Philadelphia.

Ojomo is entering the fourth and final year of his rookie contract.

The Eagles paid Davis earlier this offseason and will give Carter a contract extension either this offseason or next.

They also have to pay Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean and others down the line.

Its unlikely that Howie Roseman and Co.

will have the cap space to pay Ojomo a big second contract.

But the Eagles will cross that bridge when they get there.

At least for the 2026 season, they have Ojomo, one of the most underrated d-linemen in the NFL, on the roster.
