The NHL offseason has gotten rather quiet in recent weeks, but one situation involving a superstar who could be on the move might finally be nearing its conclusion.
With arbitration dates for RFAs released on Sunday, we now know when some of the biggest names will have their hearings.
In some cases, however, like Jason Robertson, we might not even get that far.
Robertson and the Dallas Stars have been involved in a major contract stalemate, one that has included the superstar winger being made available on the trade market.
Nothing has materialized on either front, but with a July 25 arbitration date now set, there is a clear deadline that could finally spur some action.
In fact, team reporter Bruce Levine believes this situation will be resolved before the two sides even reach a potential hearing.
Jason Robertson has an arbitration date set for July 25.
My gut feeling is this will not happen.
One way or another, this saga ends before that date, The 26-year-old Robertson is, of course, currently an RFA having finished the four-year, $31 million contract extension he signed with the Stars back in 2022.
He racked up 96 points (45 goals, 51 assists) across 82 games played last season.
If Levines gut feeling comes true, Robertson will either sign a new contract with Dallas or be traded sometime in the next two weeks.
The former still feels like the most likely outcome given Robertsons desire to remain a Star.
That said, negotiations have not gone smoothly, and if neither side is willing to budge, GM Jim Nills hand could be forced.
Teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins , Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks, and Detroit Red Wings are just some of the potential suitors who we know have interest in Robertson.
They, among others, will certainly be in contact with Nill in the coming days and weeks as this situation approaches its breaking point.
