Tacko Fall Inks Two-Way Deal with 76ers to Bolster Frontcourt

The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Saturday that they have converted center Tacko Fall's contract to a two-way deal, a move prompted by a series of injuries that have depleted the team's frontcourt. Fall had been signed to an Exhibit 10 contract prior to the conversion.

Under the new agreement, Fall will be able to divide his time between the 76ers and their G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. The 30-year-old has not appeared in an NBA game since the 2022 season, when he was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. This upcoming campaign will mark his fourth season in the league.

Fall spent his first two NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics, where he played alongside current Sixers forward Jaylen Brown. Most recently, he suited up for the Ningbo Rockets of the Chinese Basketball Association.

Before turning professional, Fall was a standout center at the University of Central Florida from 2015 to 2019. He left the program as its all-time leader in blocks (280) and ranked 18th on the school's career scoring list (1,160 points). In four collegiate seasons, he averaged 10.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game, earning American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors as a sophomore in 2017.

One of Fall's most memorable college moments came in 2019, when UCF nearly upset Duke and star Zion Williamson. Fall's imposing presence in the paint led to multiple blocks on Williamson, showcasing his shot-blocking prowess.

Key Analysis

Fall's addition gives Philadelphia a towering presence behind All-Star center Joel Embiid, provided Embiid remains healthy. However, Fall himself has been dealing with a hip strain and did not play in any of the team's preseason games. The two-way contract allows the 76ers to develop Fall in the G League while keeping him available for NBA minutes as needed.
