Steelers rookie just proved once again that he might be the biggest steal in the 2026 NFL Draft when all is said and done

A pair of Steelers wide receivers were turning heads over the weekend during a workout, and its the rookie who everyone is so fascinated with, and rightfully so when looking at the video of his drills.

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Germie Bernard is generating buzz in Pittsburgh after a workout video surfaced over the weekend showing the young pass catcher running crisp routes and flashing the kind of athleticism that has the fan base eager for training camp.

Bernard, the Steelers second-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft who could compete for a starting role in Mike McCarthys offense, worked out alongside third-year receiver Roman Wilson in what amounted to an early preview of a position battle that should heat up in Latrobe.

The footage didnt feature pads or live reps, and theres no substitute for real football.

But even in helmets and shorts, Bernards combination of size and movement skill jumped off the screen.

This is a player built like a linebacker or a stout tight end, standing over 6 feet and weighing more than 200 pounds, yet he moves with the fluidity and foot speed of a natural slot receiver.

The comparison that comes to mind is DK Metcalf.

Bernard carries that same imposing frame, but his route-running ability gives him a dimension that could make him a matchup nightmare at the next level.

(University of Alabama) The hype around Bernards rookie season continues to build, and for good reason.

Pittsburgh needs production from its young receivers, and Bernard profiles as someone who could provide it sooner rather than later.

He could be a steal for this team if his game translates the way the early returns suggest.

What made the workout particularly noteworthy was the presence of Roman Wilson running routes right alongside him.

In less than a month, those two will be competing head-to-head for the No.

3 receiver spot in Pittsburghs offense.

That role is wide open.

Bernard and Wilson split reps throughout the spring and into the early summer, going back and forth without either player separating himself from the other.

But Bernard brings a physical profile that Pittsburgh simply hasnt had at the position.

When the pads come on at training camp in Latrobe, it will be a true winner-take-all competition.

The way I see it, this is exactly the kind of internal competition that a team needs at this stage of the offseason.

The Steelers invested draft capital in both of these players, and now McCarthys staff gets to watch them push each other for a meaningful role.

Bernards blend of power and agility gives him a real shot to earn that spot, but Wilson wont hand it over easily.

The bottom line is that the Pittsburgh Steelers are in a good position at wide receiver depth, and the battle between Bernard and Wilson should be one of the most compelling storylines to follow once camp opens.
