In a thrilling finish, defenseman Thomas Harley found the net with just 0.2 seconds remaining in the first period, and Arttu Hyry added an empty-net goal with 0.3 seconds left in regulation, propelling the Dallas Stars to a 3-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.
Mikko Rantanen also scored for Dallas, which ended a two-game losing streak during which it never held a lead. The Stars finished their season-long six-game homestand with a 4-2-0 record.
Defenseman Damon Severson scored for Columbus, and goaltender Jet Greaves made 14 saves. The Blue Jackets dropped the final two games of their three-game road trip.
Jake Oettinger, who entered the game fifth in the NHL with a 1.69 goals-against average, turned aside 25 of 26 shots. He bounced back after allowing seven goals in his two previous appearances.
Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen contributed two assists.
Harley gave Dallas a 2-0 lead with his first goal of the season, firing a shot from the left half-wall that squeezed between Greaves' right skate and the post.
Rantanen opened the scoring at 2:16 of the first period, just 33 seconds into a power play after Greaves was penalized for delay of game. Rantanen tapped in a cross-crease backhand pass from Wyatt Johnston for his team-leading seventh goal.
Severson scored at 6:21 of the third period, roughly four minutes after the Stars successfully challenged a Columbus goal by Valeri Nichushkin for offside.
Dallas killed off one Columbus power play, extending its top-ranked penalty kill to 28 consecutive successful kills dating back to Oct. 13.
Blue Jackets defenseman Ivan Provorov made his season debut after being placed on injured reserve on Oct. 1. Columbus used 11 forwards and seven defensemen.
Two of Dallas' wins on the homestand came against the team's two previous coaches: Columbus' Rick Bowness and Pete DeBoer of the New York Islanders.
The teams will meet again for their other inter-conference game next Thursday in Columbus.
