Spurs predicted to lose $19 million fan favorite, despite interest in bringing him back

The San Antonio Spurs had multiple high-level veterans on their roster a year ago, even if some of them didn't make the biggest impact in the NBA Playoffs.

Having above-average veterans, even guys who can just be in the clubhouse to help out, is a very valuable thing in the NBA.

One of them was Harrison Barnes, a 34-year-old who has been around the block a few times in this league.

Barnes has done a lot of good throughout his NBA career, though his impact wasn't necessarily felt in the NBA Finals.

Barnes played just 17 minutes, scoring 0 points.

It remains uncertain if the Spurs will keep him around.

There's some interest in doing so, though Barnes might have an opportunity to play elsewhere.

Barnes began his 14th season as a member of the Spurs starting lineup, but moved to the bench as the season went along.

By the end of the playoffs, the veteran forward was taking DNPs.

The Spurs would be interested in bringing Barnes back next season as something far less than the $19 million he earned this season.

If another team offers Barnes more money and a bigger role, it wouldnt be surprising to see him playing elsewhere next season, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express wrote.

He can probably get more money elsewhere.

Not that Barnes is exactly only looking for money; he might want to be on a decent team next year.

But if he can go to another contender that could give him a bit more than San Antonio, it would probably make sense for him to go down that route now.
