Seahawks Add Veteran RB Joe Mixon After Jadarian Price Lands on IR

In the wake of first-round draft choice Jadarian Price being placed on injured reserve, the Seattle Seahawks have brought in running back Joe Mixon. Mixon, who sat out the entire 2025 campaign while rehabbing a foot injury, will now attempt to resurrect his career with the reigning Super Bowl champions. Once a fantasy football juggernaut, the 30-year-old faces an uncertain path back to relevance.

It remains to be seen when Mixon will be cleared for game action or what his exact role will entail. He is expected to share backfield duties with Emanuel Wilson and George Holani in some form of committee. Wilson handled the bulk of the carries for Seattle in Week 4, operating as the clear lead back.

Fantasy Impact: Joe Mixon, Seattle Seahawks

While Mixon's past production speaks for itself, his age and recent injury history cloud his outlook. At 30 and coming off a significant foot ailment, it's difficult to project which version of Mixon will show up. His spot on the depth chart is also up in the air. He warrants a waiver wire addition, but managers shouldn't count on him delivering immediate dividends. Instead, he profiles as a speculative stash—a lottery ticket hoping he recaptures his old form. Even if he needs time to learn the system and earn more touches, it shouldn't take long to gauge whether he still possesses the athleticism that made him a star. A reasonable guess is that he'll settle into a role similar to the one Price was expected to fill. Once up to speed, expect around eight carries and three targets per game, give or take.

Fantasy Impact: Emanuel Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

Wilson was poised to be one of the top waiver wire pickups of the week. The arrival of Mixon pours cold water on that notion. That's not to say Wilson can't still lead the Seattle backfield, but the 21 carries and four targets he saw in Week 4 are far less likely to be a weekly norm. His volume now projects closer to 12 carries per game with a few targets sprinkled in. He might still post one more monster workload in Week 5, but after that, his touches will probably be scaled back.

Fantasy Impact: George Holani, Seattle Seahawks

Mixon's addition essentially eliminates any fantasy appeal Holani might have had. Both his floor and ceiling are capped. At best, he's a desperation flex play. There's no reason to add him off the waiver wire at this point.
