RAVENSWOOD, W.Va.
- Mick Price, the state coaching veteran and legend, is proud of the summer his Ravenswood Runnin' Red Devil basketball squad put together over the last several weeks.
Price has been at the helm of Ravenswood boys basketball since the season of 1978-79.
He is the owner of more than 700 wins and two state championships.
His upcoming team got in lots of work in preparation for the season of 2026-27.
"We played two games in Williamstown every Tuesday night during the month of June," said Price.
The Devils were also a part of several shootouts.
"We played at Lincoln in Shinnston.
We played at GW and finished up at Hoover," Price noted.
The junior varsity also got in quality game time, competing in shootouts at Marietta College and in Ravenswood.
Every Thursday night the JV and freshmen players went at it on the Mick Price Court inside the Old Gymnasium.
One player that caught Price's eye during workouts was Kaden Walters.
"I'm really pleased with how he played this summer," said Price of the Walters, who will be a senior.
"He really improved and keeps getting better." Others stepping up their games were senior Owen Curtis, sophomore Kian McGoskey, junior Isaiah Nesselroad, junior Mason Kerns, senior Cade McCoy and junior Ralphie Rhodes.
Price said the Devils had to be without Brooks Wolfe, who will be a junior.
"He sustained an injury the first night we played at Williamstown and couldn't play this summer," said the Devil leader.
"He is still doing rehab.".
