NEW YORK Ron Duguay, the former Rangers center and MSG Network personality, is demonstrating signs of recovery following a collapse at his family's Florida home on Friday. The 69-year-old retired NHL star remained hospitalized as of Monday.
His daughter, Shay Thomas, provided an update via Instagram on Monday night, stating that her father had a relatively good day. She wrote, 'A little update on my dad: he had a better day today.' Duguay, who is battling stage four colon cancer, lost consciousness at the start of the weekend and required paramedic attention. Thomas noted that the fall caused facial injuries, including lost teeth.
Medical evaluations revealed an ulcer, internal bleeding, and severe dehydration. After several days of rest, the former center, who led the Rangers in scoring and participated in the 1982 NHL All-Star Game, showed notable improvement. 'He was able to eat a little, get up and take a short walk, which felt like a huge win after the last several days,' Thomas reported. She added, 'He's still in the hospital and has another night there as of now while the doctors continue to monitor him, but we are grateful for every small step forward.'
