Roanoke College has hired Tessa Hampton as its head womens basketball coach, Director of Athletics Curtis Campbell announced Tuesday.
Hampton arrives after four seasons at Shenandoah University, where she spent three years as an assistant before being promoted to associate head coach in 2025.
Recommended Videos At Shenandoah, Hampton helped lead the Hornets to four straight Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament semifinals and consecutive ODAC championship game appearances in 2023 and 2024.
She also helped mentor two WBCA All-Americans, two first-team all-region selections and 11 All-ODAC players.
Before Shenandoah, Hampton served as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Emory & Henry, during the 2021-22 season while working as an adjunct professor.
She previously spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at DeSales University, where the Bulldogs went 32-5, won two MAC Freedom championships and qualified for the 2020 NCAA Division III Tournament.
A four-year letter winner at Emory & Henry from 2015-19, Hampton helped the Wasps compile an 83-27 record, reach three ODAC tournament semifinals and advance to the second round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament.
Hampton succeeds Carla Flaherty, who stepped down earlier this summer.
