Ravens QB Lamar Jackson Limited in Practice, Week 7 Return in Sight

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson sustained an ankle injury in Week 4, forcing him to leave the game in a walking boot. Although the injury was initially deemed minor, the two-time NFL MVP has been sidelined for Weeks 5 and 6 and could also miss Week 7.

Jackson, a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Louisville, began his rookie season on the bench before taking over for an injured Joe Flacco. He guided the team to the playoffs and showed promise as a rookie, then established himself as one of the league's elite quarterbacks. Since 2019, Jackson has earned four Pro Bowl selections, two MVP awards, and three First-Team All-Pro honors while leading Baltimore to consistent winning seasons.

Injuries have been a recurring issue throughout his career, but Jackson remains unstoppable when on the field. This season, he has completed 70.8% of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception. There is a chance he returns in Week 7.

While nothing is certain, the team's official injury report listed Jackson as a limited participant on Wednesday, which is a positive sign for Sunday's game. A player of Jackson's caliber does not need a full practice to prepare, so his presence on the field is encouraging.

Baltimore boasts one of the league's most talented rosters, but no team can compete without an elite quarterback under center. If Jackson is not ready for Week 7, the Ravens will turn to longtime backup Tyler Huntley.

Huntley struggled in relief of Jackson last week, completing 19 of 31 attempts for 165 yards and one touchdown in a close loss to the Cleveland Browns. Over his career, Huntley has an 8-10 record with a 66.8% completion rate, 3,641 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He is no Lamar Jackson, but he is more than capable of keeping the offense on schedule for a few weeks.
