Safe to say, the Golden State Warriors are not enjoying free agency as much as they thought they would.
And it makes sense, as every top target they had wanted has now ended up in different franchises.
The time to center Steph Curry around a team competitive enough to push for the NBA championship is running out, as we look at the four biggest offseason targets the Warriors missed out on.
This was always a far-fetched idea for the Warriors, who wanted to trade for the Washington Wizards Davis as an attempt to lure in LeBron James as well to play alongside him, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green.
Sources confirmed that the Warriors actively inquired about Davis availability, but their pursuit quickly hit a dead end.
One source within the team described the Wizards high asking price as completely unreasonable, causing the initial trade discussions to fizzle out before gaining any serious momentum.
Before the 2024 Finals MVP headed to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Warriors made a strong pursuit for Brown.
According to league sources, the Warriors offered the Boston Celtics packaged deals that included Jimmy Butler.
However, the Celtics basically laughed off the Warriors trade efforts, showing little interest while completely refusing to entertain any formal offers.
The Giannis saga was quite similar to that of Brown, just amplified further.
The Warriors were one of the favorites to sign the two-time MVP earlier on, offering a package centered around Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, and four first-round picks.
However, those talks stalled, and the Warriors ended up backing out of the deal.
Giannis eventually took his talents to the Miami Heat, who did not push for a Golden State move.
By far the Warriors biggest miss.
Not because of the name, but because for a long period of time, they were leading the race to get the signature of LeBron James.
Even James friends from the Warriors like Curry and Green got involved and pitched ideas to the media if the 41-year-old ended up arriving.
However, when Eastern Conference teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and the Philadelphia 76ers jumped into the race, the Warriors slowly lost momentum.
James eventually signed with the 76ers, his chapter in the league with another new team that can realistically push for the NBA championship.
Thats why you dont envision anything until it happens.

Curry said during a youth camp about James not coming to the Bay Area.
The Warriors are back to the drawing board, and it will be interesting to see who becomes their top target from here on.
