The 32-year-old Korpisalo has 334 career games under his belt and gives the Rangers more depth in the crease after veteran backup Jonathan Quick retired following the 2025-26 season.
Korpisalo went 14-9-6 as the backup for the Bruins last year, recording a 3.15 goals-against-average and a .894 save percentage.
Korpisalo has two years left on his contract, which carries a $4 million cap hit.Hes put up three consecutive seasons with a save percentage under .900, but will be looking to change that with the Rangers.
The Rangers already have one of the leagues best goalies in Igor Shesterkin locked in as their starter.
Korpisalo is an experienced backup who can shoulder a decent workload to keep Shesterkin fresh.Together, the two goalies cost more than $15 million against the cap, making them one of the Vaisanen, the prospect sent the other way in this trade, was originally picked by the Rangers in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL draft.
He spent last year with the AHLs Hartford Wolf Pack, recording one goal and three assists in 51 games.
While Vaisanens numbers dont inspire much confidence, the 23-year-old is 6-foot-5 and brings size to the table.Still, at this point, its doubtful hell ever be more than a career AHLer.
