Rams' Injury Report: Myles Garrett and Terrance Ferguson Nearing Return, but New Concerns Emerge

Fresh off consecutive wins, the Los Angeles Rams received a mix of good and bad news on the injury front Monday. Head coach Sean McVay updated the status of eight players after the team's 24-9 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, with the potential returns of two key contributors tempered by a slew of new injuries.

The most significant positive development centers on reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett and tight end Terrance Ferguson, both of whom are expected to resume practicing this week after spending extended time on injured reserve. By opening their respective 21-day activation windows, either player could suit up as soon as Sunday against the Washington Commanders. However, the Rams may opt for caution, and a multi-week ramp-up remains a possibility.

Elsewhere, the news was less encouraging. Cornerback Jaylen Watson aggravated the right shoulder he dislocated in Week 3 against Denver. McVay said Watson's status will be evaluated as the week progresses, expressing optimism about his strength but acknowledging that his availability for Sunday is uncertain.

Fellow cornerback Trent McDuffie took a knee to his back against the Chargers but appears to have avoided a serious setback. McDuffie reported that his back is feeling okay and that he is taking it day by day, adding that he will do everything possible to play on Sunday.

Offensive lineman Steve Avila also experienced hamstring discomfort against the Chargers, though McVay expects him to be available against Washington. Linebacker Grant Stuard felt something in his hamstring during pregame warmups, prompting the Rams to proceed cautiously with the special teams contributor.

Meanwhile, running back Dean Connors suffered a broken hand and is expected to land on injured reserve for several weeks. Tight end Colby Parkinson, who suffered a rib injury against the Raiders and missed Sunday's game, is progressing but remains without a definitive return date.

For a Rams team that has battled injuries seemingly every week, getting Garrett and Ferguson back would provide some much-needed relief. At 4-4, Los Angeles has finally climbed out of its early-season hole.

Now reinforcements are on the way, but they will need to keep their current roster healthy in order to build upon their newfound momentum.
