As we gear up for the 2026 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down nearly every player on the Texas A&M roster.
Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a players background, recruiting rankings out of high school, and projected role under head coach Mike Elko.
The transfer portal has been good to the Aggies in recent years, producing impact players like Cashius Howell and KC Conception, both early selections in the most recent NFL Draft.
This offseason, A&M added another highceiling defender in Rickey Gibson III, a transfer who immediately elevates the Aggie secondary heading into 2026.
Even though Gibson missed most of the 2025 season, his 2024 performance offered a clear glimpse of his potential.
He recorded 32 tackles, five pass breakups, and earned strong Pro Football Focus marks, including a 76.3 coverage grade.
At 6'0" and nearly 190 pounds, Gibson brings the size, speed, and physicality to make an immediate impact on the outside.
His traits and early production have already positioned him as a future first or secondround NFL Draft prospect, and he arrives in College Station with the ability to become one of the most important pieces of Elkos rebuilt secondary.

29 (247Sports Composite) The former fourstar prospect delivered a standout senior campaign, recording 40 tackles, 13 passes defensed, and four interceptions, earning Starnes Media AllSouth Metro firstteam honors.
He represented Alabama in the 2022 AlabamaMississippi AllStar Game and helped guide his program to three straight AHSAA 7A playoff appearances from 202022.
As a junior, he added 33 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and three interceptions, showcasing consistent production and ballhawking instincts across multiple seasons.
Depth Chart Outlook The cornerback room will feature heavy competition this season.
With Will Lee III off to the NFL, there is an open spot opposite Dezz Ricks.
Rickey Gibson III is the early favorite to claim that role, but hes also coming off an injury, and Julian Humphrey has put together a strong spring, keeping the battle tight.
With three quality corners in Ricks, Gibson, and Humphrey, the final configuration may ultimately depend on whether the nickel spot is filled by a corner or a safety.
Either way, A&M enters 2026 with more depth and flexibility in the secondary than it has had in years.
