Predictions: Where Top-10 Recruits Lewis Uvwo, Reese Alston, and DeMarcus Henry Will Commit

College basketball commitment season is heating up, and the Kentucky Wildcats are in the mix for three elite prospects. Lewis Uvwo, Reese Alston, and DeMarcus Henry, all ranked in the top 10 of the 2027 class, will reveal their college destinations in the coming days.

Here are projections for each player's landing spot.

Lewis Uvwo — Baylor Bears

Uvwo, a 6-foot-11 center with a 7-foot-6 wingspan, is widely regarded as the premier defensive player in the class. His shot-blocking ability and rim protection have drawn comparisons to some of the best in recent memory. Despite heavy pursuit from Kentucky's Mark Pope and his staff, Uvwo is expected to choose Scott Drew and Baylor over the Wildcats, California, and Providence. If Uvwo spurns Kentucky, the Wildcats may turn to other big men like Paul Osaruyi or Cherif Millogo to bolster their frontcourt. With Malachi Moreno likely declaring for the NBA after his sophomore season, a starting spot in Lexington would be available. Uvwo will announce on Wednesday, October 28, at 3:30 PM ET.

Reese Alston — LSU Tigers

Mark Pope made Alston his top guard priority in the 2027 class, even skipping Peach Jam on day one to watch him at the Puma Pro16. Pope's connection to Alston runs deep—he played in the NBA with Alston's father, Rafer "Skip to My Lou" Alston. Additionally, Kentucky assistant coach Mikhail McLean attended the same high school as the talented point guard. While other point guards like Cayden Daughtry and Beckham Black are available, Kentucky has had limited contact with them. The prediction is that Will Wade secures his first major recruit since returning to Baton Rouge, landing the 6-foot-2 point guard over Kentucky, Wichita State, Tennessee, and Louisville. Alston will decide on Thursday, October 29, at 4:00 PM ET.

DeMarcus Henry — North Carolina Tar Heels

Henry, a Charlotte native, is expected to stay in-state and play for the Tar Heels. His recruitment has been well-documented, and a recent visit to Chapel Hill included a phone call from Michael Jordan. Head coach Michael Malone is pulling out all the stops, and it seems to be paying off. Kentucky's Mark Pope made a trip to Arizona to see Henry just days before the decision, and other coaches—Pat Kelsey of Louisville and former Kentucky coach John Calipari of Arkansas—also visited. Malone and his staff will meet with Henry one more time in person on Wednesday in Arizona. Despite the late pushes, it appears too little, too late for Kentucky, Louisville, and Arkansas, as Henry is projected to choose North Carolina. He will announce on Friday, October 30, with no specific time set.

Key Analysis

Kentucky is projected to miss out on all three top-10 recruits, continuing a trend of near-misses for Pope. While the Wildcats have been finalists for several elite players, they have yet to secure a commitment from a top-10 prospect under Pope's leadership. This week's decisions could further underscore the challenges of recruiting at the highest level.
