Predators Acquire Jayden Struble from Canadiens in Exchange for 2027 Second-Rounder

The Nashville Predators have completed a trade with the Montreal Canadiens to acquire defenseman Jayden Struble, sending a second-round selection in the 2027 NHL Draft to Montreal in return.

Struble, who is 25 years old, has appeared in three games for the Canadiens this season, logging an average ice time of 12:05, the lowest of his career, and has not registered a point. Since breaking into the NHL with Montreal in 2023, the Rhode Island native has accumulated 35 points, consisting of seven goals and 28 assists, along with a plus-3 rating and 167 penalty minutes across 174 contests.

Montreal originally chose Struble in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft.

Chris MacFarland, the Predators' president of hockey operations and general manager, commented on the acquisition on Friday: "Jayden Struble is a 25-year-old physical defender who will add mobility and a hard-to-play-against quality that will help our backend. We are excited to watch his growth and look forward to him being a player who can grow with us."

Struble is currently in the second year of a two-year, $2.825 million contract that he signed with the Canadiens on July 28, 2025.
