Patriots' Injury Woes Deepen: Vrabel Offers Vague Updates on Campbell, Henderson

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots faced another setback on the injury front during Sunday's game, as two key starters exited early and did not return.

Offensive tackle Will Campbell sustained a knee injury, which NFL Network reported as a sprain shortly after the game. He is scheduled for an MRI on Monday to confirm the diagnosis. The report also indicated that Campbell is expected to 'miss some time.' However, when asked about Campbell on Monday and whether the injury would sideline him for an extended period, head coach Mike Vrabel declined to provide a definitive timeline.

"We'll see how the week goes. It'll get looked at and continue to rehab," Vrabel explained. "Wasn't able to finish the game, so I mean, I don't know how much time he'll miss, if he'll be back towards the end of the week. If he'll be back Wednesday. But we'll take it day by day and see how he feels tomorrow. See what he does Wednesday and keep you updated on the injury report."

Campbell's knee injury is to the same knee in which he suffered a torn MCL last season.

Running back TreVeyon Henderson also left the game with an ankle injury. Vrabel stated that Henderson is in a similar situation to Campbell, with the team needing to wait and see the severity of the injury.

"We'll evaluate here and see how it looks," Vrabel said. "Wasn't able to finish the game, and if we see that on Wednesday he's going to be limited, he's going to be limited, and then we'll let you know he'll be limited."

In Campbell's absence, 2026 first-round pick Caleb Lomu filled in at left tackle and is likely to remain there if Campbell cannot play. At running back, with Henderson out, Corey Kiner saw increased snaps, and Rhamondre Stevenson took on an even larger role.

"I know that those two players will do everything that they can to get back, but unfortunately, they weren't able to finish the game," Vrabel said of Campbell and Henderson. "So I don't know what their availability will be just less than 24 hours after the game."

Key Analysis

The Patriots are now dealing with uncertainty surrounding two important contributors. Campbell's history with the same knee adds concern, while Henderson's ankle issue further depletes the backfield. Vrabel's cautious approach suggests the team will monitor both players closely in the coming days, leaving their status for Week 2 in doubt.
