Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was finally cleared to rejoin his Kansas City Chiefs teammates as the team prepares for the 2026 season.
Mahomes, who is recovering from a torn ACL and LCL, said he plans to use the team's training camp to show the medical staff, his teammates and the coaching staff, that he can still compete at the highest level.
As he prepares to do so, he made a plea to head coach Andy Reid: don't hold back.
"I don't get hit, so that's one part of it, but it's good to be out there and have bodies around and be able to go through and run the offense," Mahomes said.
"I want [Coach Reid] to call [plays] it like we're going to call it in the regular season.
That's going to be the best way for me to prepare myself.

The season-opener for both teams comes on Monday, Sept.
14, which gives the star quarterback a few extra days to get healthy in time for a clash against the Broncos.
