Patrick Kane choosing between Sabres, 1 other team in NHL free agency

Patrick Kane is originally from Buffalo, New York, and he has a chance to come back home.

The legendary winger is currently a free agent, and the Sabres are apparently in the running to sign him.

In fact, Chris Chelios reportedly says that just two teams are left, according to 670 AM radio in Chicago.

The Sabres are one of them.

The Chicago Blackhawks are the other.

That would eliminate a return to the Detroit Red Wings as well as knock out the Toronto Maple Leafs, who were previously said to be in the running.

The right winger will turn 38 years old in November, and he's coming off a season with 16 goals and 41 assists (57 points) in 67 games.

In his career, Kane has put up 1,400 points in 1,369 NHL games, which includes 508 goals and 892 assists.

Kane's stick skills are still special, which would make him an asset to whichever team he joins.

He may not be able to handle huge ice time like he would've earlier in his career, but with the right approach, Kane can still improve a contending team.

It'd be especially notable if he chose to join the Sabres at this point in their history.

Buffalo made the playoffs for the first time in 15 years and is now trying to build on that.

Of the players still available, Kane would certainly be among the most intriguing for the Sabres.
