The Green Bay Packers are set to welcome the Atlanta Falcons to Lambeau Field for their Week 3 matchup, which also marks the team's home opener. As the action unfolds, longtime Packers beat reporter Tom Silverstein will engage with fans through a live chat on Microsoft Teams, utilizing the platform's Town Hall feature.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is employing this interim live-chat setup while a permanent solution is developed for 2026. The chat is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24, and will open approximately 30 to 45 minutes before the noon kickoff. Silverstein will field questions in the Q&A section and will appear on video for a discussion at halftime.
How to Join the Live Chat
Fans can access the live chat via a provided Microsoft Teams link. If you're early and the session hasn't started, a message will indicate that the call hasn't begun. The chat is hosted on Teams, which can be used in a browser on a desktop or laptop. For mobile participation, the Teams app must be downloaded. No account is required to join.
Upon logging in, participants will see a PowerPoint slide or a photo of the Packers, confirming they are in the right place. The Q&A feature, where the chat with Silverstein takes place, can be found in the Teams navigation. In a browser, it's located in the top right corner. On a laptop, the size of the Q&A window can be adjusted by dragging a thin gray line to enlarge the Q&A and shrink the video screen. In the app, users should navigate to the three dots next to the red phone icon and select Q&A from the menu. Participants can ask questions or join the discussion immediately, and are encouraged to include their name for easier responses from Silverstein.
Accessing via the Teams App
To join on the app, download it beforehand. Some users have encountered issues due to app permissions; ensure that microphone, notifications, and phone permissions are enabled.
Accessing via Browser
To join via browser, click the link and a pop-up will appear. If not, check if your browser blocks pop-ups. The first pop-up will ask if you want to join on the app; select "cancel" to stay in the browser. A second pop-up will offer the choice to continue in the browser or download the app; select "continue on this browser." You may need to adjust video or microphone settings. Note that some users cannot access the chat on Safari. Participants can ask questions in the Q&A, but no one will be on camera or able to speak. For further assistance, email [email protected].
