The OKC Blue opened their 2026-27 regular season on Friday with a 94-79 home defeat against the Mexico City Capitanes, dropping their record to 0-1.
Offensive struggles defined the night for the Blue, who trailed 28-21 after the first quarter and managed only 14 points in the second. At halftime, OKC found itself in a 44-35 hole.
The second half offered little relief. The Blue never mounted a serious comeback, occasionally trimming the deficit to single digits but failing to threaten. They scored just 22 points in the third quarter and entered the final frame down 71-57. The fourth quarter was similarly forgettable, with another 22-point output, and the Blue trailed by as many as 21 points during the contest.
Without any NBA talent on the roster, the lack of top-end scoring was evident. OKC shot 32% from the field, 9-of-39 (23.1%) from beyond the arc, and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. The team recorded 14 assists on 28 made baskets, and four Blue players scored in double figures.
The Capitanes, meanwhile, shot 43% from the field and 13-of-31 (41.9%) from three. They also went 8-of-11 from the charity stripe and had 16 assists on 33 baskets. Three Mexico City players reached double-digit scoring.
