During a practice session at Centennial Ice Rink on October 12, the Nashville Predators caught everyone off guard by stepping onto the ice with a fresh appearance. Instead of their typical white helmets, the players wore dark navy helmets, and they paired them with a dark navy pant shell that featured a gold trim design, replacing the plain blue pant shell they usually sport.
The practice jerseys remained consistent with the team's gold and navy colors. According to a Predators representative who spoke with The Tennessean, this new ensemble is likely a sneak peek at Nashville's Hometown Remix alternate jersey, which is scheduled to be unveiled in November.
The NHL introduced the Hometown Remix alternate jersey campaign back in August. On September 25, the Predators disclosed that their Hometown Remix jerseys would include a tribute to Dolly Parton. A custom patch will honor the legendary country music star, who passed away on August 25.
The gold trim on the pant shell is adorned with three stars, which appears to be a nod to the iconic Tennessee Tri-Star emblem found on the state flag.
Currently, the Predators' uniform combination consists of gold helmets and gold jerseys when playing at home, while on the road they wear white helmets with white jerseys that have gold trim. The team last used navy helmets during the regular season in 2015-16 before making the switch to gold and white in 2016-17. They also donned navy helmets for the Stadium Series game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2022.
Key Analysis
The introduction of navy helmets and a redesigned pant shell at practice signals a potential shift in the Predators' visual identity, possibly tied to the upcoming Hometown Remix alternate jersey. This move not only teases a new aesthetic but also honors Tennessee's heritage and a beloved cultural figure, Dolly Parton. Fans and analysts will be watching closely for the official reveal in November to see how these elements come together on the ice.
