CLEVELAND (AP) — Game 3 of the American League Championship Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians has been rescheduled to a 1 p.m. ET first pitch on Thursday, as announced by Major League Baseball. The decision was made due to the likelihood of rain in Cleveland on Thursday evening.
By moving the start time up by five hours, MLB aims to keep the series on track without delays. The game will remain available on TBS and other TNT Sports networks.
Following that adjustment, the league also shifted the start of Game 3 of the National League Championship Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. That contest in Los Angeles will now begin an hour earlier, at 5 p.m. local time (8 p.m. ET).
The Brewers hold a 2-0 advantage in that series.
Meanwhile, the best-of-seven ALCS is tied at 1-1 after the Rays secured a 3-1 win on Tuesday night. Cleveland claimed the series opener 7-3 on Monday.
Tampa Bay will start right-hander Griffin Jax on the mound. Jax, who posted an 8-10 record with a 3.52 ERA, struck out four and allowed one run in two innings of relief against the New York Yankees in the Division Series.
Cleveland is expected to counter with Gavin Williams (14-8, 3.76 ERA), who led the American League in strikeouts. The right-hander started Games 2 and 5 against the White Sox and pitched an inning in relief in Game 4. He recorded 24 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings, giving up two runs and six hits.
Friday's game remains scheduled for a 6 p.m. start, and Saturday's first pitch is set for 8 p.m.
