Missouri State Faces Sam Houston with Expanded Injury List

Missouri State is gearing up for a crucial week where a victory is essential to preserve its season-long aspirations. The Bears (2-5, 1-2 in CUSA) will host Sam Houston (1-6, 0-3) on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. inside Plaster Stadium.

During his weekly media session, head coach Casey Woods revealed that additional injured players will be added to the report before the matchup against the Bearkats. "Our list of injuries is going to be deeper this week than it's ever been," Woods said. "There's other guys that are going to be showing, that aren't starters necessarily. It's that part of the season."

In Missouri State's most recent loss to Delaware, starting running back Breezy Dubar and wide receiver Mekhi Miller were sidelined. Defensive end Mekhi Miller was listed as questionable but did play against the Blue Hens. According to Woods, running back Ramone Green Jr. and offensive lineman Logan Scrivner will miss some time.

When asked to clarify the duration of "some time" for the players he mentioned, Woods admitted uncertainty. "I don't know yet," he said. "What does that look like next Tuesday? What does that look like going forward in the season? I'm not sure we have all of the answers to that. If they're out for the season, we'll let you know."

Woods also noted that most of the injuries have accumulated from games rather than practice. The Bears and Bearkats will kick off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday inside Plaster Stadium.

Key Analysis

The growing injury list presents a significant challenge for Missouri State as it fights to keep its season goals within reach. With key contributors like Dubar and Green Jr. sidelined, the team's depth will be tested against a Sam Houston squad hungry for its first conference win. The Bears' ability to adapt and find production from non-starters could determine their fate in this critical matchup.
