Miguel Rojas Confirms Retirement After Dodgers' NLCS Exit, Eyes Player Development Role

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas has made his retirement official in the wake of the team's National League Championship Series defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers. The announcement came after Thursday's Game 4 loss, solidifying a decision that had been looming.

Rojas initially revealed his plans to retire during the 2025 season but spent much of 2026 weighing whether to continue playing, leaving the possibility of a return open. However, following the Dodgers' playoff exit, he put any speculation to rest. "This is it as a player," Rojas stated.

Career Highlights with the Dodgers

Rojas, 37, began his MLB journey with a single season in Los Angeles in 2014 before rejoining the club in 2023 for what would be his final four years. Over five total seasons with the Dodgers, he appeared in 531 games, clubbing 23 home runs and driving in 126 runs. He also secured two World Series rings, with his impact in the second title run being particularly significant.

The veteran infielder etched his name in Dodgers lore with the most memorable home run of his career in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series. His ninth-inning blast against the Toronto Blue Jays tied the game and forced extra innings, ultimately paving the way for the Dodgers to capture their second consecutive championship.

During the 2026 campaign, Rojas saw action in 105 games, recording a .703 OPS to go along with four homers and 23 RBIs.

Future Plans

Following the season-ending loss, Rojas expressed a strong desire to remain with the Dodgers in a non-playing capacity. "I want to stay here," he said. "I want to wear this uniform in a different capacity and continue to make the organization better."

That wish may soon become reality, as reports indicate the team plans to offer him a role in player development. Whether Rojas immediately transitions into that position remains uncertain, as he also mentioned wanting to spend time with his family. Regardless, his heroics and loyalty have guaranteed him a lasting place within the organization.
