Dusty May led the Michigan Wolverines to an NCAA Tournament national championship title in just his second season as head coach of the program.
However, just a few weeks after taking the Wolverines to the pinnacle of college basketball success, he accepted a new job as head coach of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks.
This decision disappointed some Michigan fans, who hoped May would continue leading the program in their title-defense season and beyond.
Jalen Rose, a key member of Michigan's legendary "Fab Five" team, is happy for May as he takes the next step in his coaching career.
"Congratulations, Dusty.
There's going to be a lot of traditionalists that feel like he was a mercenary at Michigan.
..
Not a true Michigan man," Rose said.
"For anyone that says that, I can relate.
You know why? Because you said that about us.
Anything that seems to be not 'traditional' you frown upon it.
He delivered the goods.
Dusty May's going to do great in the NBA." "Many dont know what it is to 'forge your own path' so they judge what they dont understand," Rose added.
"Go.
Win..
