Michigan basketball adds high-scoring guard from Australian league

Michigans womens basketball program has gone overseas to land a guard for next season.

The Wolverines announced Thursday the addition of Dallas Loughridge, a 5-foot-6 guard who most recently played for the Casey Cavaliers in the NBL1 South Australias top semi-professional basketball league.

Through 17 games this season, Loughridge averages 25.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in nearly 37 minutes per game.

The 22-year-old also has professional level experience in the Womens National Basketball League.

She was named the Breakout Player of the Year in February after averaging 16.4 points, 4 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game for Adelaide Lightning during the 2025-26 season.

We are excited about adding Dallas to our program, Michigan head coach Kim Barnes Arico said in a news release.

She gives us another playmaker and ballhandler in the backcourt.

She has experience playing against tremendous competition, which has prepared her for the transition to this level.

She is just an unbelievable scorer and will give us another threat with her decision-making and playmaking.

Loughridge will join a talented Wolverines backcourt led by rising juniors Syla Swords and Mila Holloway.

Alongside rising junior All-American Olivia Olson, the trio averaged over 12.1 points per game last season, helping the program reach new heights.

Michigan returns four starters from last years team that tied a program record with 28 wins, reached the Elite Eight for the second time and set records in scoring average (82.3 points per game) and Big Ten victories (15).

This offseason, the Wolverines also added Stanford graduate transfer Courtney Ogden, a 6-foot wing.

She averaged 12.9 points on 51.3 percent shooting and 4.3 rebounds last season and is a former McDonalds All-American.
