Micah Parsons: 'If Super Bowl Were This Week, I'd Play' as Packers Await Pass Rusher's Return

The Green Bay Packers have opened the season impressively even while missing star edge rusher Micah Parsons. Parsons continues to rehab a torn ACL sustained last year, and speculation is mounting that his return may be near.

Both Parsons and the Packers seem committed to not rushing him back, despite fans growing restless for his on-field debut. Parsons explained that multiple factors must align before he feels ready to compete again.

Speaking at Bleacher Report's The Edge, Parsons addressed the delay: "The biggest thing that people worried about with me, they're like, 'Man, why ain't he back yet?' If the Super Bowl was this week, I'm playing in the Super Bowl. But it's just about me making sure I have all the small things fixed first."

He elaborated on the complexity of his recovery: "What a lot of people don't figure out is it's not just the ACL. It's like, why did the ACL happen? What was weak? Because it all works together. It's a chain. And throughout the history of ACL, they notice if you come back early, there tends to be an overcompensation injury on the other side – we just gon make sure everything is right before."

Parsons' comment that he would play in the Super Bowl if it were this week suggests his recovery is progressing well. While he hasn't yet returned to the field, his words hint that a comeback might be closer than initially believed.

He continued, "Because everyone knows, it's like, what's the point of getting me back for four weeks and then next thing you know, my groin bothering me."

The Packers have felt Parsons' absence on defense, and his return could provide a major boost to the unit.

Key Analysis

Parsons' cautious approach highlights the importance of fully rehabbing before returning, especially given the risk of compensatory injuries. His potential return would significantly strengthen Green Bay's defense as they aim for a deep postseason run.
