Something good might come from this lost New York Mets season after all.
On Monday, left fielder Tyrone Taylor continued a scorching-hot stretch since returning from a hip injury, going 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs batted in during a 14-3 romp over the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves (62-44).
The Mets (45-62), one of the few teams already out of playoff contention, are expected to sell at this year's trade deadline (Aug.
3, 6 p.m.
ET) and Taylor a pending free agent could net them a healthy sum on the open market.
Before going on the injured list following a May 25 hip injury, Taylor had a .186/.210/.320 slash line with three home runs in 43 games.
Since returning on June 28, he's slashing .410/.477/.974 with six home runs during the 19-game span.
As ESPN's Jorge Castillo noted, Taylor has particularly discovered his power stroke recently, hitting his six dingers over a span of 35 plate appearances after only knocking three long balls in his first 111 plate appearances.

For those still in the chase, he could be one of the most promising short-term rentals, potentially driving up his price tag.
New York has an asset that's only appreciating in value.
For a season that derailed early, a potential return for Taylor could help the Mets begin to get back on track.
