In a move signaling the start of their trade deadline sell-off, the New York Mets have dealt left-handed reliever A.J. Minter to the Minnesota Twins. Minter, who signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Mets, is in the final year of that contract. After missing most of the 2025 season due to a torn lat, he returned in late May and has compiled a 1-1 record with a 2.35 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts over 23 innings.
Billy Amick, a 23-year-old corner infielder, is ranked as the Twins' No. 23 prospect by MLB Pipeline. Drafted in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Tennessee, Amick has been playing at Double-A Wichita this season, where he has slashed .217/.338/.482 with 23 home runs, 72 RBIs, 60 runs, and 14 doubles in 86 games, though he has also struck out 108 times.
Bruin Agbayani, the son of former Mets outfielder Benny Agbayani, is a 19-year-old middle infielder and the Twins' 29th-ranked prospect. Selected in the fifth round of the 2025 MLB Draft from Hawaii, Agbayani has appeared in just 10 games at Single-A Fort Myers, going 11-for-41 (.268) with three doubles, six RBIs, and 12 runs.

The Minter trade is expected to be the first of several moves by the Mets before Monday's trade deadline.
