Marshall adds premium seating to football stadium with Porch suites

By Bill Cornwell HUNTINGTON, W.Va.

Regardless of location, memories are made on a porch.

Marshall Athletics is incorporating that idea in announcing the creation of a new premium seating area in the south end zone of Joan C.

Edwards Stadium this fall.

Four Porch units are being created and sold on a season-long basis and Marshall Athletics officials say theyre a way to keep the pregame tailgate going.

Weve created something truly unique that blends the tradition of tailgating with the excitement of Marshall Football, giving our fans the opportunity to bring the party inside the stadium, Marshall Vice President and Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison said.

These premium spaces arent just suites theyre an experience, allowing family, friends and business partners to gather, celebrate and enjoy one of the most distinctive viewing experiences in college football.

Every Saturday at The Joan should be about creating memories.

We look forward to launching The Porch and welcoming Herd Nation to experience game day in an entirely new way.

Herd Hospitality, a division inside the Athletic Department, came up with the porch concept, calling it a combination of a premium suite and prime tailgate spot.

Each Porch suite will include 20 football season tickets, a private covered gazebo structure, an outdoor propane gas griddle along with a refrigerator and ice service, outdoor patio-style seating and dining furniture, a patio heater for cooler game days and premium views of the field and game-day atmosphere.

Suite occupants will be able to decide what food and drink items will be stocked in their areas.
