By Mikey Goldstein POUGHKEEPSIE Infielder Bayram Hot, who starred for the Marist Baseball Team from 2023-24, was selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Sunday afternoon.
Hot was selected in the 10th round by the New York Yankees with the 308th overall pick.
Really excited for Bayram as he gets to continue chasing his dream in professional baseball.
Excited that he gets to play for the greatest organization in sports.
His time at Marist was extremely special and we are extremely happy for him and his family.
Our program has really prided ourselves on developing players and we are extremely proud of adding to the list of MLB draft picks for the second straight year, said Marist head coach Lance Ratchford.
Hot played two seasons for the Red Foxes, posting a .329 batting average and a .413 on-base percentage.
He recorded 128 hits, 74 RBIs, nine home runs, 28 doubles, and six triples during his two seasons at Marist.
In 2023, Hot led the team with a .382 batting average and a .466 on-base percentage in 50 games.
As a freshman, he earned numerous Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference honors, including MAAC Rookie of the Year, Second Team All-MAAC, and All-MAAC Rookie Team recognition.
He was also a three-time MAAC Rookie of the Week selection.
In 2024, Hot started all 55 games he appeared in for Marist.
He finished the season with a .278 batting average and a .383 on-base percentage while recording 55 hits, 37 RBIs, 14 doubles, seven home runs, and three triples.
