Luke Kornet Has a Message for LeBron James: Come to San Antonio

Spurs Luke Kornet posted a funny YouTube video recruiting LeBron James to San Antonio, joking about Victor Wembanyama, Texas' tax-free living, and even offering the NBA superstar a guest room.

(Sam Owens/San Antonio Express-News) San Antonio Spurs center Luke Kornet is doing his part to help recruit one of the biggest names still available in free agency.

Kornet posted a comedic YouTube video Friday personally inviting four-time NBA champion LeBron James to join the Spurs, making an intentionally awkward pitch that highlighted everything from Texas' lack of a state income tax to SeaWorld and a local panaderia.

"Hey, LeBron..

Mr.

James..

LeBron...," Kornet began.

"It's Luke Kornet..

number seven of the San Antonio Spurs." The veteran center joked that he and James have crossed paths before, noting the time he had yelled at him during a game last season, a reference to the play when LeBron dunked on him, before quickly shifting into recruiter mode.

"We got a great thing going.

A lot of young talent.

It's an easy place to live, tax-free..

You can play alongside a generational player, and Victor (Wembanyama) too." Kornet then rattled off a list of reasons James should consider San Antonio, mentioning SeaWorld, praising a local favorite, La Panaderia, he called "hidden" and "bussin'," and even offering a guest room if the NBA's all-time leading scorer needed a place to stay while making his decision.

"We have a guest room available if you need some time to kind of figure things out on your end," Kornet joked.

"We'd be open to open our doors." The 29-year-old also poked fun at James' family, saying San Antonio is "a great place for kids" before stumbling through how much he knew about the future Hall of Famer's children.

Kornet wrapped up the recruiting pitch by appealing to James' pursuit of another championship.

Something Spurs fans are familiar with.

"You're chasing number five, and we've got five," Kornet said.

"So we're kind of all in the same ballpark.

..

If you could just sign, I'd really appreciate that." READ ALSO: Spurs' Carter Bryant struggles to shake off rust in summer league debut He ended the video with one final message to Spurs fans.

"Go Spurs Go." Whether Kornet's recruiting pitch has any effect on James' free agency remains to be seen, but the video quickly drew attention from Spurs fans online.
