ALEXANDRIA, La.
(WNTZ) - The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team has signed seven new players for its 2026-27 season.
The Generals will open their season with an exhibition game on Oct.
22 at the University of Louisiana Lafayette, followed by their regular season opener on Oct.
30 at Faulkner (Ala.).
The new class is set to complement the Generals' roster and includes Tonka Jaksic, Ja'Mya Garland, Mollie Miller, Kodi Miller, Molly Axell, Khouri White and Kenzie Marceaux.
First to join the Generals is five-foot-eight guard Jaksic from Split, Croatia.
Jaksic comes to LSUA from NCAA Division II Eastern New Mexico University, where she appeared in 47 games over two seasons.
She shot 41.7% from the field and recorded 31 assists, 33 steals and 45 rebounds.
Jaksic earned four gold medals, six silver medals and two bronze medals for Croatia at National Championships.
She represented Croatia at the FIBA Women's Eurobasket 2026, where the team reached the quarterfinals.
Jaksic made six appearances in the tournament, scoring 15 points, including nine points against Spain in the group phase with three long-range shots.

It felt like a place I can grow on and off the court, push myself and be part of something special.
Head Coach Perkins expressed enthusiasm for the new recruit.
Tonka is going to be a great addition to team, Coach Perkins said.

She will help us spreads the floor out with her shooting and will be everywhere on the floor.
Ja'Mya Garland, a six-foot-two center from Gurdon, Ark., is another key addition, joining from Allen Community College.
During her high school career at Gurdon, Garland averaged 11.3 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game, 2.7 steals and 3.3 blocks.
She earned 2A-8 All-State Honorable Mention and all-conference honors.
I chose LSUA because it just felt right, Garland said.
The Coaches made me feel wanted, the campus felt like home and I could see myself growing there for the next few years.
I'm excited to be a part of a program that believes in me to continue my journey as a student-athlete.
Coach Perkins highlighted Garland's versatility.
Ja'Mya is going to be able to helps on both ends of the floor, Coach Perkins said.
Her length and her ability to get up will be a huge benefit to us.
She will be exciting to watch.
Miller, a five-foot-six guard from Oregon City, Ore., comes to LSUA from Clackamas Community College.
Miller was a Three Rivers Player of the Year selection for Oregon City High School, earning two Three Rivers First Team selections and All-State Honorable Mention honors.
While at Clackamas, Miller was named the NWAC Southern Region Freshman of the Year and earned two First Team All-Region selections.
I chose LSUA because I really enjoyed the community and how family oriented everything is, Miller said.
That is something I was looking for, and I am glad I found it in LSUA.
Coach Perkins praised Miller's all-around game.
Mollie is going to be fun to watch, Coach Perkins said.
She can score but does a good job getting others involved.
We are lucky to have her on our team.
From Simpson, La., 5-foot-four guard Miller joins LSUA from Simpson High School.
Miller's high school career included two First Team All-State selections, a First Team All-District selection, two Second Team All-District honors and both a First and Second Team All-Parish selection.
I chose LSUA because the people are so welcoming and it is a great environment, Miller said.
Coach Perkins emphasized Miller's defensive capabilities.
Kodi is going to bring speed and defensive pressure to our team, Coach Perkins said.
She comes from a winning program which will carry over to our program.

Axell, a five-foot-eight guard from Stockholm, Sweden, transfers from North Idaho College.
Axell appeared in 44 games over two seasons for the Cardinals, where she registered 118 points, 40 rebounds, 17 assists and 12 steals.
I chose LSUA because I wanted to continue my schooling while playing basketball at a place where I have room to develop, grow and a place I can call home, Axell said.
Coach Perkins noted Axell's valuable experience.
Molly is a good addition to our team, Coach Perkins said.
She shoots the deep ball well and will get out and run the floor.
Her experience will be a great asset to us.
White, a five-foot-four guard from Houston, Texas, joins the Generals from Louisburg College.
White earned All-Region honors at Louisburg and was named Freshman of the Year during her time at Lamar High School.
In two seasons at Louisburg, White appeared in 46 games and started 38, averaging 10.5 points per game.
She also recorded 86 rebounds, 77 assists and 35 steals.
I chose LSUA because it felt like a place where I wouldn't just be another number, White said.
I wanted a school where I can stay focused, grow and actually build real connections while working toward my goals all while playing the sport I love! LSUA felt like the right fit for that.
Coach Perkins highlighted White's balanced play.
Khouri is going to help bring some experience, she is a two-way player that will help us improve on both ends of the floor, Coach Perkins said.
She will be a fun player to watch.
Rounding out the class is Marceaux, a five-foot-nine guard from Maurice, La.
Marceaux comes from North Vermilion High School, where she earned 4A First Team All-District honors, District MVP, a First Team All-Metro selection, Parish MVP, First Team All-Parish and All-State Honorable Mention.
I love the small town feel of LSUA's campus and I feel my skill set matches Coach Perkins' style of play, Marceaux said.
I had the chance to meet some of the team and talk one-on-one with Coach Perkins and I felt it was a great fit.
Coach Perkins expressed anticipation for Marceaux's contribution.
Kenzie has played a lot of basketball, Coach Perkins said.
Her length and her athletic ability are a huge benefit to our team.
I can't wait to see what she will bring to the team.
